To develop initiatives and programs that affect, expand, and develop the Small Business Community.

The Committee also serves as an advocacy group representing Economic Development.

Activities: Host Workshops

To plan, coordinate, and execute all Chamber fundraising events.

Activities:     Oversees:  Annual Meetings,  Golf Outings,  Gala/Special Extravaganzas,  Summer Madness Events

Reviews and establishes methods for implementing Chamber communications vehicles including – newsletter, website, T.V. Show, broadcast faxes and e-services, press releases.

 Activities:  Host workshops,  Marketing communication

To advance ideas, strategies, and activities that aid in the enhancement of educational (K-12, College/University, and Adult education) and workforce training and development resources in Gary.

Develops and establishes Chamber’s annual Public Policy Agenda. Public Policy issues that have been focused on including airport development, health care, the steel industry, and property taxes.

Activities: 

• Publishes Annual Public Policy Agenda and regionally distributes this document.
• Host Third House Session

Develops and establishes methods for membership recruitment. Establishes dues structure.

Activities: 
Conduct Membership drives,  Coordinates Ambassador group, Assist with member open houses and grand openings, and Greeting members at Chamber functions.

To review and monitor all Chamber fiscal matters and establish the annual budget.

Reviews day-to-day activities of the Chamber and Executive Director. Insures compliance with board policy. Evaluates the Chamber’s progress toward fulfilling its purpose and objectives. Makes recommendations to the board on matters requiring board approval and/or action.
